Are you under 21?
If you are a worker aged under 21, you are legally entitled to at least the National Minimum Wage rate relevant to your age group.
Date | 21+ | 18-20 | Under 18 |
Old Rate – Up Until 31 March 2024 | £10.18 | £7.49 | £5.28 |
New Rate – From 1 April 2024 | £11.44 | £8.60 | £6.40 |
It is illegal for your employer to pay you less than the National Minimum Wage, so check your pay and talk to your manager to make sure you’re getting the pay rate increase you are entitled to.
- The minimum wage law applies to all parts of the UK.
- No employer is exempt from paying their workers the statutory minimum wage.
